Do loupes affect eyes?

If correctly made, there is no evidence that loupes weaken eyesight or affect vision. Eyes naturally weaken, and vision acuity declines, as a person ages. When made correctly or adjusted correctly for flip-up adjustable loupes, loupes can help prevent eye strain and do not weaken or affect the eye, nor do they cause the user to become compromised in any way.

However, loupes can cause discomfort or irritation if they are not fitted properly or are not adjusted correctly. Improperly fitted or adjusted loupes can cause a number of issues, including neck and back pain, as well as headaches.

They can also cause vision problems if they are not used properly. For example, if a person's eyes are not properly aligned with the loupes, it can cause distortion and blurriness. This can lead to difficulty seeing small details, and can even cause dizziness or nausea.

Similarly, having too extreme of a downward declination angle can cause eye strain.

At Bryant Dental our unique 16-point measurement system and 3D facial scan ensures the optimal positioning of your optics for maximal ergonomics and comfort.
