It is not uncommon for dental assistants to wear loupes in the dental office. Loupes are magnifying glasses that are worn by dentists and other dental professionals to help them see small details more clearly.

Loupes and headlights are rapidly becoming the standard of care among dental hygienists and assistants. Exceptional visibility is necessary for everything from routine cleanings to scaling and root-planing procedures. Loupes provide better vision through magnification and maximise the field of view (how many teeth you can see).

Dental assistants may wear loupes when assisting the dentist with procedures, or when performing tasks that require precise visual acuity, such as preparing instruments or taking x-rays.

By allowing better positioning and ergonomics, loupes can help alleviate neck and back pain. Reduced eye strain and fatigue leads to improved work performance and in turn, improved patient care.

Loupes can help dental assistants see more clearly and perform their tasks more accurately, which can improve the overall quality of care provided to patients.
